Has the BJP Overplayed the “Dynastic Parties” Card and Lost Focus of the Real Issues?

There is no single reason for the below par performance of the BJP in the 2024 general elections in India and a lot of discussion is still taking place on many of the likely reasons. However, one reason that has hardly been talked about even in the latest India news in Hindi is the BJP’s cacophony about dynastic parties in the opposition. Apparently, the BJP’s objective was to emphasize the point about most of the opposition parties being run by families as if these were their ancestral properties.

Like everything else, this particular narrative, which is largely based on facts, also has a threshold beyond which it loses its usefulness. Despite that if such a narrative is persisted with, it could become counterproductive and start causing damage to the narrative setter himself.

The BJP should have thought well before going on an overdrive with this “dynastic parties” narrative because it has a dynast in the National Democratic Alliance [NDA] coalition in Chirag Paswan, who leads the Lok Janshakti Party [LJP] as per the top 10 breaking news in India.

There is nothing wrong with Paswan or his party but the BJP cannot step aside if the opposition points out that the LJP chief is a dynast since he inherited the party from his father, Late Ram Vilas Paswan.

BJP lost focus due to over reliance on the ‘dynast’ narrative

If the BJP had targeted the minority appeasement politics of the opposition parties well enough and focused less on their dynasty politics, it would have made a much better impact.

By going on an overdrive on the dynastic politics of the opposition parties, the BJP missed out the opportunity to corner these opposition parties on their anti-Hindu policies.

The senior leadership of the BJP hesitates to talk openly about Hindu interests and always try to present things from a conveniently neutral positioning, which disappointed many Hindus.

Moreover, the BJP chose to talk about its economic achievements according to the latest India news in Hindi, which is fine but history shows that economic performance does not win elections.

The BJP’s much talked about ground level workers were not to be seen across most of the constituencies and I personally never saw door to door campaigning by the BJP in the last 10 years.

Did the BJP take its Hindu vote bank for granted?

Many Hindu voters are disappointed about the way the BJP has neglected its core voters, the Hindus, after it was presented with a clear majority of its own.

Everyone likes to be spoken to and the Hindu vote base of the BJP is no exception to this. However, it appears that PM Modi and some of his ministerial colleagues are the only people in the BJP who are working hard to reach out to supporters.

The rest of the rank and file seems to be riding piggy back on PM Modi’s popularity and charisma. They are too lazy to bother about maintaining close contact with BJP supporters and voters in their areas as per the latest India news in Hindi.

Easy victories do tend to make people complacent about their priorities and that seems to be the case with the BJP across most parts of the country. Reports about complexities developing between BJP and the Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh [RSS] seems to be true to a large extent. In fact, the ground level workers of the BJP are mostly drawn from the RSS and they were missing from the BJP’s grassroot level campaigning this time. There are some new people in the BJP without any RSS links, who must do well to remember that the RSS is the spinal chord of the BJP and without it the BJP simply cannot stand on its own.
