Hindi News: BJP has Finally Removed the ban on Government Employees From Participating in RSS Activities

The Bharatiya Janata Party [BJP] came to power with absolute majority in 2014 thanks to the tireless efforts of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh [RSS] affiliates in BJP among others as per Hindi news. This was a full decade ago and yet after coming to power with a majority on its own, the BJP did not lift a 1966 ban order passed by the Congress prohibiting government employees from participating in RSS activities. It is even more intriguing when we see that the man who led the BJP to power in 2014 is a swayamsevak himself along with most of his party and cabinet colleagues. There are allegations that the BJP has been trying to keep a convenient distance from the RSS under the influence of non-RSS members of the party and some other influencers outside the party.

This brings up the question about the exact nature of relationship between the RSS and the BJP and how they are interdependent in multiple areas of mutual interest going by the top 5 latest news headlines.

Is there a single command centre that controls the functioning of both organizations or do both organizations function autonomously and independent of each other? That is a question that many of the opponents of both organizations both within and outside India, often wonder.

Sangh Parivar is the glue that binds most patriotic Hindus

For those who do not understand the relationship between the BJP and RSS, it would help to understand the common identity under which both are seen as a single entity.

This common identity is the Sangh Parivar, which colloquially means ‘Brotherhood of Unity’. Now, this is not a formal organization with a charter and agreement or any written document but it exists and everyone knows about it.

As organizations, the BJP and RSS are of course separate entities, each with their own specific aims and objectives but there are too many areas where their interests converge according to Hindi news.

In fact, there are hardly any areas where they disagree; if and when they do, it is never done out in the open and in most cases, it is resolved internally.

RSS is said to be the ‘Mother’ organization which nurtures future BJP party functionaries and leaders in addition to leaders of different other organizations of the Sangh Parivar.

BJP has occasionally strayed from the chosen path of the Sangh Parivar

Although it does not come out in the open as always but the differences between the BJP and RSS never came up in the way it did just before and after the 2024 elections as per the top 5 latest news headlines.

One thing that is becoming a certainty is that the RSS is not in tune with the larger-than-life image of Prime Minister Modi that the BJP’s campaign managers had tried to project before the elections.

Slogans like “If there is Modi, then it is possible” and “Modi’s guarantee” apparently did not go down well with the RSS where any kind of personality cult is not acceptable.

The RSS is all about organizational strength and has always frowned upon popular leaders and their larger-than-life images. The underlying belief in the RSS is that people will come and go but the organization will continue. It is believed that an annoyed RSS refused to help in the BJP’s election campaign in order to teach the latter a lesson. The BJP now seems to have learnt the lesson that without the RSS affiliates at the grassroot level, it simply cannot do anything better than its performance in the last elections. It is in this context that the BJP has tried to reach out to the ‘Mother’ organization and resolve its differences with the latter.
